Yes, I am still alive and as of today I have been married to my bestest friend for a whole month. For the record, I love being married and being a wife, which seems to be contrary to a lot of warnings I was given. The whole, "Just wait till after the honeymoon. . . it's so hard being married. . . enjoy it while it lasts" and equally scary warnings. As a disclaimer, I did get some encouraging words like, "it just gets better and better. . . being married is wonderful. . . you get to wake up beside your best friend each morning", and such but for some reason the scary ones held onto me more than the encouraging ones. To the point where it felt like people thought dating was the fun-happily-ever-after part of the relationship then as soon as the 'I do's' were said a horrible curse was unleashed and the next 40-50 years would be filled awful torture. I know, I know, I am a drama queen but what can I say it's how my brain works.
Most people would probably say that I am still 'honeymooning'. Perhaps I am, but that doesn't mean that everything has been peaches and cream. I have been doing a lot of learning about myself ever since I started dating. I am a very selfish creature and my flesh really really hates being crucified, so far getting married as just been a continuation of that discovery. So after being married for a month I have decided, I am not going to live under that fear of 'the dreadful curse'. No 'thing' I could possibly face in my marriage will be bigger than my God. And quite frankly, I think marriage is the happily ever after part
not dating.
So cheers to marriage and my wonderful best friend. He is the best thing that ever happened to me!!!
special cheers to my amazing photographer who created this image!

ReplyDeleteBritt, I know what you mean about hearing all that stuff from marriage "haters" or whatever you want to call them, but i think being married is WAY better than not. It's amazing how you think you love someone, and then (for me) a couple years down the road you realize that you love him more now than then. Now, I'm getting choked up so I will stop. Love and happiness to you and clint. <3
