His Peace

[my husband took this picture and I LOVE it. Isn't it amazing?!?]

April 20, Jesus Calling

Do not be afraid, for I am with
you. Hear Me saying Peace, be still
to your restless heart. No matter what happens,
I will never leave you or forsake you.
Let this assurance soak into your mind and heart, until you
overflow with Joy. Though the earth give way and
the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, you need not fear!

The media relentlessly proclaim bad news:
for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A steady diet of their fare
will sicken you. Instead of focusing on fickle,
everchanging news broadcasts, tune in to the
living Word—the One who is always the same.
Let Scripture saturate your mind and heart,
and you will walk steadily along the path of Life.
Even though you don’t know what will happen tomorrow,
you can be absolutely sure of your ultimate destination.
I hold you by your right hand, and afterward I will take you into Glory.

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!”
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
—Mark 4:39 nkjv

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them,
for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
—Deuteronomy 31:6

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.
—Psalm 46:2

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.
—Psalm 73:23–24

may His Peace give you strength this weekend!

much love,
Brittany

Only God is Constant

I guess I learned the hard way
This world can’t give me what I need
Even though the house I built on sand
Was swallowed by the sea
You never let me down

You never let me down
You never let me down
You never let me down

You might let me cry
You might let me sing
You might let me feel a fraction of your suffering
(You might let me share your suffering)
But you won’t let me down
You never let me down

[If I could just stop striving
And surrender to your holy power
I know your loving arms will lift me up
And never let me down
You never let me down]

Depression/Mental Illness

Because I have watched my mom and aunt walk this path. . .

Because I have many friends on this path. . .

Because I too am on this path. . .

Because life words help heal. . .

My Mom was my encouragement, my love of Jesus supporter as I started down this road. It isn't any easy road. Quite frankly, the church of Christ needs to understand this illness. They need to know that it is no different than cancer, diabetes, or heart trouble. No amount of positive thinking will get you out of this kind of darkness. That it's not a lack of spirituality. It's an illness of the brain. Just like diabetes is an illness of the metabolism. But Ann Voskamp does much better at explaining all this. I read her post earlier this week and knew I had to share it.  The link for the her post is under the picture, please read it.

Now

She steps into his arms
Squeezes him tightly and smiles
So so happy
So. . .
     Blessed. Tremendously blessed.
A thought grabs her

What if?
What if this happiness isn't meant to last?
What if he is taken suddenly?
What if? What if??
Tears fill her eyes.
She feels anxious and clammy.
Shh, shhh

      a still, small whisper. . .
        Peace, beautiful peace.
She might not have tomorrow
But she does have now.
She squeezes him tighter and smiles,
Oh yes, she does have now.
